Co-owners Gloria Hoffman and her mother Linda Clark had the Sharks doing “The Twist” on Season 7 of ABC’s “Shark Tank” back in 2015 when the mother-daughter twosome pitched the investors their innovative fitness product, the Simply Fit Board (via CNBC Ambition). With the Simply Fit board, which was shaped like a brightly-colored concave skateboard, users would be able to improve their balance as well as simultaneously tone their back and legs and strengthen their core by simply standing on the board. Hoffman and Clark then demonstrated how consumers could take their workout a step further by twisting at the waist as the board seamlessly slid along with them thanks to its highly lubricated plastic material. What’s more, they explained that the board could alternatively be used as a support for planks, push-ups, and squats.

Sharks Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec quite literally jumped on board to try out the product for themselves. Almost immediately, O’Leary offered $250,000 in exchange for a 30% stake in the company, which was an unexpected increase from the co-developers original asking of $125,000 for 15%. Lori Greiner was also interested, offering $125,000 in exchange for 20%. Hoffman and Clark countered, asking if the two Sharks would be interested in a joint deal, which Greiner promptly turned down. Ultimately, the Queen of QVC won out and Simply Fit Board walked away with a deal.

Simply Fit Board took off after Shark Tank

In an ABC update video, Hoffman explained that the company had done $575,000 in sales prior to taking the “Shark Tank” stage. Within 24 hours after the episode aired, their sales numbers skyrocketed to $1.25 million with Simply Fit Board selling out within six minutes following an appearance on QVC. The product’s reach quickly expanded to a global audience, earning upwards of $9 million just seven months after Hoffman and Clark’s “Shark Tank” premiere. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of product,” Greiner told Success Magazine in 2017. “We just launched in every Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond and Kmart store, and soon we’ll be all over Europe, Japan and Australia.”

Yet this wasn’t the family’s first stab at entrepreneurship, with Clark telling Success Magazine that more than two decades ago she had developed an organic play dough product for kids called Play Clay, available in a variety of fruity scents. It’s unclear where the product is today, however, with the Play Clay Factory website seemingly no longer accessible. Unlike Play Clay, does Simply Fit Board still have fitness enthusiasts twisting and toning today?

Simply Fit Board in 2024

While the company doesn’t appear to actively promote Simply Fit Board as it once did, the product is still around today. It’s presently available for purchase on Amazon in a variety of colors, with the latest 5-star customer review recently posted in July 2024. However Amazon seems to be the best — and maybe only — place to purchase a Simply Fit board. The “As Seen on TV” product is listed on Walmart’s website but is currently out of stock. The company’s SimplyFit21.com website also seems to be out of commission. Simply Fit Board doesn’t appear to have much of a social media presence these days either, having made their last Instagram post over five years ago.

Unlike Simply Fit Board, co-creator Gloria Hoffman continues to remain active on the socials. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is the founder of Simply Fit Systems, a title she still wears today. However, most of her personal Instagram content is not focused on her entrepreneurial endeavors. Rather, she enjoys sharing photos of family life and highlighting the athletic accomplishments of her sons. This makes sense when you consider what Hoffman told Success Magazine back in 2017 about how she personally defines success: “For me success is being able to spend quality time with my boys without the stress of money worries. I hope my mom and I can inspire other entrepreneurs that with a good idea and lots of hard work, your dreams can come true.”
