Love her or hate her, Taylor Swift isn’t going anywhere. As one of the richest and most recognized people in the world, she has created one heck of an empire and, of course, her Swifties can’t get enough of her. But keeping all those fans enthralled and putting on three-hour-long concerts almost every night, for months on end, requires a lot of work. It’s not just about fitness and mental health, but eating a daily diet that’s going to give Swift the energy to take on the world — which she pretty much does on the regular.

“Basically, if I’m indulging too much and not exercising enough, I can feel that,” Swift told Allure in 2009, via Today. “I can feel a change before I see it. For me, working out is not so I can stay skinny. It’s so that I can keep up my endurance so I’m not panting on stage. Heavy breathing is the worst when you’re in concert. You don’t want to see that, if you’re going to see a show.”

While Taylor is often spotted in New York City going out to dinner with friends and has admitted to loving fast food, for the most part, she keeps her daily diet healthy. After all, no one, no matter their age or gender, can put on the hours-long performances that Swift does without being mindful of what they eat.

Taylor Swift starts out the day on a healthy note

If you’re a fan of Taylor Swift, then you already know she loves to cook. In December 2023, Swift’s collaborator, Aaron Dessner, told People that, unlike some celebrities of her caliber, Swift is very hands-on in the kitchen. “I’ve spent a lot of time with her and I’ve never seen anyone wait on her,” Dessner told the magazine. “When I have stayed at her house, Taylor herself was cooking everyone breakfast and dinner.”

One of the meals that Swift likes to make regularly to start the day off right is buckwheat crepes, meaning she’s amping up with the antioxidants right off the bat. “I love making buckwheat crepes with ham, Parmesan cheese, and a fried egg on top,” Swift told Bon Appétit in October 2012. “It’s my go-to breakfast.” As she told the magazine, she makes sure she always has the necessary ingredients in her fridge so she can make this well-rounded and healthy breakfast. (If you know your French food, you’ll recognize this as basically a galette complète.) She also has orange juice every morning, because you need to get that vitamin C in your diet to keep the immune system functioning at 100%.

She keeps it light during the week

Like a lot of people, Swift seeks to keep a balance when it comes to healthy eating and splurging. “During the week, I try to eat healthily, so that means salads, yogurt, and sandwiches,” Swift told WebMD in November 2010, adding that she avoids sugary drinks during the week unless it’s a skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks. “I try to keep it lighter, but it’s nothing too regimented or crazy. I don’t like to create too many rules where I don’t need them. We know what’s good for us, thanks to common sense.”

Swift also makes sure she stays hydrated every day, telling WebMD that she’s never without a bottle of water. “I drink so much water my friends call me an alien,” Swift said, adding that she even keeps a case of water in her car as backup. However, these days, the case is probably in her private jet.

When the weekends roll around, Swift switches out her skinny vanilla latte for a spiced pumpkin latte instead and indulges in comfort food. “I love a burger and fries, I love ice cream so much, and I love baking cookies,” said Swift, adding that she has no plans to cut out what she loves to eat or deny herself her favorites.
